November 11, 2014
A fair amount of my business involves helping Active Duty personnel and Veterans finance their homes with Texas Vet or VA Home Loans. In recognition of Veterans Day 2014, my husband and I are personally making a $100 donation to each of the five non-profits listed below that support Veteran causes.
This is our way of saying thanks and expressing our appreciation for all Veterans, but more importantly to call attention to the needs of the Veteran community. AND WE ENCOURAGE YOU to also make a donation today to any of the non-profits below or one of your choice.
Thank You
-Shirley Mueller
Semper Fi Fund: The Semper Fi Fund, and its program America’s Fund, provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, ensuring that they have the resources they need during their recovery and transition back to their communities. Bonus: Bob Parsons (founder of GoDaddy.com) and his wife Rene with support from GoDaddy are matching donations dollar for dollar up to 5 Million Dollars. Operation Finally Home: Operation Finally Home provides custom-built, mortgage free homes to America’s Heroes and the widows of the fallen who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms and our way of life. Severely wounded and disabled service members often return home to confront extreme hardships, from physical and emotional disabilities to financial ruin, joblessness and homelessness. Operation Finally Home helps these Heroes and their families transition to the home front by addressing one of their most pressing needs – a home to call their own. Veteran Tickets Foundation (VetTix.org): Veterans and less actively serving Military personnel shoulder unique burdens of stress, sacrifice and time away from their families. The majority of our veterans have served during wartime. Yet these veterans receive limited access to resources that are vital to their reintegration into their communities. The cost for the average football game or concert is over $500 for a family of four. This makes many events simply un-affordable for average Military and Veteran families. Veteran Tickets Foundation is concerned that too many Veterans are missing out on the All-American moments for which they have fought and sacrificed. Veteran Tickets Foundation teams up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues and ticket holders to provide free and discounted tickets to the more than 21 million Military and Veterans. VetTix also operates the Hero’s Wish program which allows Veterans who meet certain criteria to request specific tickets for any single event . Read more about Vet Tix and donate.
Team Red White and Blue: Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Community and exercise are powerful and proactive ways to address the root causes of many Veteran challenges. By preventing isolation, depression, and anxiety, we greatly reduce the likelihood that a veteran will have to deal with dependence, joblessness, or homelessness. Read more about Team RWB and donate
Military Warriors Support Foundation: Founded by Lt. General, Leroy Sisco, (Ret), in 2007, Military Warriors Support Foundation’s mission is to provide support for our nation’s combat wounded heroes and Gold Star Families as they transition out of the military and into their new civilian life. This is a very fragile time for these heroes, and their families, and it is our goal to provide programs that facilitate a smooth and successful transition. Our programs include home donation, academic and employment assistance, as well as recreational activities. Read more and donate at http://militarywarriors.org/.
